The coping skill of doing it

Have you ever been so tired, or told yourself you're so tired, that you don't even want to use your coping skills? Like it's exhausting to write down your gratitude list, and it's exhausting to even begin to name five things you can see, four things you can feel, on down to three, two, and one, the sensory things.

And then it's too exhausting to want to do the things you enjoy. Then you're using your coping skills because you don't want to think a particular thought, or you want to avoid a particular situation.

Why not just sit? Well, you don't want to just sit, because then there's the fear of those thoughts overriding your emotions, leading you to act out of those emotions and react in a way that gets you into more trouble.

So you go back to using your coping skills. And there you have it.

But you still know you are going to wmake a positive choice. And in knowing you're going to make a positive choice, and exhibit a positive behavior in the midst of not feeling the right way, well, perhaps that is the whole point of your coping skill.

Or maybe you've created a new coping skill: the coping skill of just doing it.

What keeps you going on empty?

Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
