Slow Sunday is written by hand. Once a week, I slow down, put pen to paper, photograph the page, and share it with you just as it came out.
A scarecrow on a bike, holding a cup of coffee.
On my Sunday walk to purchase an Americano, this was the first Halloween yard decoration I noticed. It was followed by a cauldron of witches. Then, down the street, was a 12-foot skeleton wearing an orange T-shirt.
After ordering my Americano, I sat down on a bench to reflect, and staring me down was a skeleton on the roof of the vet I take my dog, Bella, to.
Strolling back home, I saw a giant inflatable Ghostface from Scream, probably about 8 feet high.
All of these yard decorations represent fake, imagined fears that are harmless. It makes me wonder how many of my fears are fake and imagined but occupy a great deal of space.
Perhaps I can view them as decorations that can be taken down — or should be taken down.
What fear have you left up long after the season ended?
Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
