Is there an unidentifiable discrepancy between what I want to do, what I should do, and what I am doing? Is it one or the other?
Actually, there is another category: what I should not be doing.
If these were three jars you could drop your activities into, what would go in each? Our jobs? Time with family and friends? Mundane chores, making difficult decisions, balancing your budget?
All of these choices have consequences, and each has borne a particular fruit in our lives. Looking over your field of life, I am sure there are some items to be proud of, some that discourage you, and some you wish you could avoid altogether, or that would simply go away.
Negative thoughts that you wish could go away. But some of them really aren’t negative. They are decisions you are putting off. Or maybe all these options floating around are a sign that you could be depleted and need to recharge in order to face those categories of decisions.
But even in that moment of rest, there is still a pull toward what you should be doing, which consistently talks more than what you are doing at the moment.
And perhaps that is the problem.
What you are doing right now can be what you should be doing, what you want to be doing, or what you should not be doing. But in the end, we are all doing something.
And that is our present moment.
Which jar is talking loudest in your life right now?
Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
