Slow Sunday is written by hand. Once a week, I slow down, put pen to paper, photograph the page, and share it with you just as it came out.
On Friday, I made the decision to not look at Facebook or Instagram over the weekend, in hopes of improving my mental health.
I did learn of the many benefits. These include a reclaimed attention span and a detox from comparison. In place of scrolling before bed, I allowed myself time to think, time to journal, time to make focused plans, and time to create.
My mood did not instantly improve. Instead, I found myself face to face with challenging thoughts, emotions, and problems.
I came to one conclusion: social media can be a distraction from facing what needs to be done. A new coffee shop, laughing at a clip, discovering new music, looking for inspiration — I do this on platforms, but a detox forces me to confront.
What are you scrolling past?
Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
