Maybe that is a win

You know what I learned from this weekend, now that I'm here on Monday morning?

I'm not dreading Monday. I'm not excited about Monday either. But I have a clear head, and I'm ready to tackle whatever comes my way.

I'm pragmatic.

That might not sound like something to celebrate, but I think it counts.

Over the weekend, I decided to take a break from scrolling Instagram and Facebook. I still used my phone, but I limited it. Instead of scrolling, I journaled. I wrote in my coffee book. I worked on my blog. I met with my creative group.

Last night before bed, I had some Sleepytime tea and wrote in my journal. This morning, I woke up with a clear head.

I can't say that staying off social media explains all of it, but I believe it helped. I gave myself a little less to take in, and a little more time to put my own thoughts on paper.

And now it's Monday.

There's no big burst of enthusiasm. I'm not suddenly thrilled about everything waiting for me. But I'm also not carrying that familiar feeling of dread into the day.

Maybe I don't need to be excited about Monday for it to be a good start. Maybe being able to look at the day and think, Okay, let's see what needs to be done, is enough.

I think I might carry the no-scrolling experiment into today. I liked having room to write, to create, and to hear myself think.

This morning, I'm clearheaded. I'm ready. I'm not dreading.

Maybe that's the win.

What do you reach for when you want to hear yourself think?

Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
