Monday

Monday morning. The last day of summer school.

I have to tell you, I’m a little happier today. The weekend was great. I got to see The Odyssey. I also saw Suspiria, the 1977 horror film, with the movie group I’ve started hanging out with.

There was something really nice about being in an older theater run by a nonprofit that shows classic films. The seats were older but comfortable. The screen looked great. The people were friendly. Even the concession stand had its own charm. It reminded me that sometimes the experience matters just as much as the movie.

I have an AMC A-List membership, so I’ve gotten into the habit of seeing almost everything at AMC because I’ve already paid for it. But this weekend reminded me that it’s good to step outside my routine once in a while and experience something different.

What’s one routine you’ve settled into out of convenience — and what might you discover if you stepped outside it this week?
