Midweek Reset

Wednesday. The middle of the week. Not quite the weekend, but almost—because Thursday leads to Friday, and Friday leads to Saturday and Sunday, and time to breathe.

But sometimes you hit Wednesday and you’re tired. Not a little tired. You’re yearning. Yearning for vacation. Yearning to be somewhere else for a week. Yearning to not have to walk through those doors and just… recharge.

But vacation isn’t on the horizon. Work is still there. And you’re still tired.

So what do you do?

For me, a Wednesday reset works.

And that reset is a trip to the library.

I walk in and head straight to the new book section. I look for something I haven’t read—usually something that catches my eye, maybe even on a subject I know nothing about but can’t quite put down. I tend to gravitate toward nonfiction. I grab a book or two.

Then I walk the stacks.

And as I walk, something happens.

The stacks bring back memories—being a kid at the library, studying in college, moving to a new town and always finding the local library first. I see people reading and studying, and it reminds me of those seasons of growth and focus.

I pass the DVDs and CDs and realize I don’t even have a way to play them anymore. No CD player. No DVD player. But there’s something quietly comforting about knowing you could take out one movie a day and have years of content—right there, physical and real.

Then comes the best part.

I check out my books, walk outside, and sit on a bench in the park next to the library. I watch people walk their dogs. I feel the breeze. The sun is out. Nature is doing what it does.

And I just sit.

That’s the recharge.

No flights. No hotels. No big plans. Just a simple reset in the middle of the week.

We all have access to that.

It might not be a library. It might be a coffee shop, a park, the ocean, a lake, or even just sitting in your car with your favorite comfort food.

But find your place.

Find your reset.

Because sometimes, the middle of the week isn’t about pushing through.

Sometimes, it’s about pausing long enough to breathe again.

What’s your Wednesday reset?
