Axel Rose was right
I get up around 7, roll out of bed around 9. I ain’t worried about nothing because worrying is a waste of my time.
Those are the words of Axl Rose — “Mr. Brownstone” off Appetite for Destruction.
And as I listened to it today, it made me think: you know what? He’s right. Worrying is a waste of my time.
That thought sent me straight to my dog.
Taking her on her daily walks is beautifully simple. She walks. She sniffs. She handles her business. She trots. She’s happy just to be outside. Another dog passes by, she looks around — no big deal. No spiral. No second-guessing.
And that’s how I need to be.
Because on those walks, my inner critic goes quiet. It’s not telling me I’m walking her wrong or holding the leash wrong. The most it pipes up is to remind me to use the poo bag — and honestly, that’s a fair reminder. That one’s on me.
But everything else? Silence.
So here’s what I’m taking into this week: approach your day-to-day like walking a dog. Show up. Be present. Handle what’s in front of you. And don’t worry — because worrying is a waste of your time.
Where in your life does your inner critic go quiet — and what does that silence tell you about how you’re meant to move through the rest of your day?
