Inconvenience
Inconveniences occur on a daily basis. Some are small, others are larger, and then there are some that generate major disruptions in your day-to-day. It is possible to use gratitude as a way to manage inconvenient situations and find the fuel to move forward, respond, and keep a healthy perspective that allows you to avoid poisoning your spirit with anxiety and worry.
For example, on Thursday we found out we would need to vacate our home for a few days while repairs are made. I looked at it as a time to recharge in a nice hotel room, enjoy having coffee outside, and spend time with the family. I'm thankful for a pet-friendly hotel, takeout food, and air conditioning.
Yes, our sink is outside, and giant fans are blowing in the bathroom, but I still have the hotel bathroom, the library, coffee shops, and plenty of entertainment options.
It reminds me that I have plenty. To me, complaining feels like a slap in the face to those who are battling to simply survive.
Inconveniences can be reframed and viewed from a perspective of: What can I do in this moment that I did not ask for, but am now living in?
What are you living in right now that you didn't ask for?
Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
