Friday Glimmers: Both Exist
Was I annoyed this past week? Yes.
Was I agitated? Yes.
Was I angry? Absolutely.
But you know what? I was also happy. I also experienced joy.
On Fridays, I take time to look back at my glimmers—the things that happened and brought a little joy into my day-to-day life.
There was watching the Bears win last Sunday with a backup quarterback. There was staying in a hotel for a couple of nights while our bathroom was being repaired. The circumstances were inconvenient, but there were still moments to enjoy.
There was Saturday morning coffee at the local coffee shop. There was celebrating Mental Health Day at work. And there was receiving a grant for smartboards—something that will make a real difference for our students.
There are also things to look forward to, like seeing a horror movie tonight with the movie group.
When I look back over the week, the irritation is easy to remember. Problems tend to make themselves known. Sometimes the good moments need a little help getting my attention.
So on Fridays, I pause. What went well? What did I enjoy? What am I looking forward to? Who am I glad to spend time with?
I can be frustrated with parts of my week and still be grateful for moments within it.
Both exist.
Those are my glimmers.
What good moment from this week almost slipped past you?
Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
