Friday Eve

Thursday going into Friday is almost beginning to feel like Christmas Eve going into Christmas. There's something so nice about getting off work on a Friday, and Thursday gives you that anticipation. You're not quite there, but you can feel it coming.

I've read things suggesting that if you're looking forward to the weekend, you might be burning out. Well, I hope I'm not burning out. But I also don't think there's anything wrong with looking forward to the weekend.

You put in a good day's work. You show up, handle responsibilities, solve problems, and give your energy to the people who need you. Then the weekend comes, and you have a chance to recharge.

We don't have an endless supply of energy. We can't always be on. We all need time to recover, rest, and enjoy a day that asks a little less of us.

Looking forward to Friday doesn't mean you dislike what you do. You can care about your work and still be happy to head home. You can have a meaningful week and still look forward to some breathing room.

So I'm not convinced that looking forward to the weekend, by itself, is a sign of burnout. Sometimes it's just looking forward to the weekend.

And on Thursday evening, that can feel a little like Christmas Eve.

Have you ever mistaken needing rest for something being wrong?

Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
