Glimmers
In a given week, we have pressure and we have blessings. Pressure and blessings.
Sometimes, though, the pressure seems more prevalent in our eyesight than the blessings. It’s easier to see what went wrong, what stressed us out, what we’re worried about, or what still needs to be done.
That’s why I have Friday Glimmers—a time to intentionally look back at the blessings that really occurred in my life during the week.
For me, this week’s glimmers were:
I got to lead our Wednesday night Zoom Bible discussion.
My wife and I went to a silent reading hosted by the Venice Book Club at Saba Surf Coffee Shop. I ordered a flash brew cold brew, and we sat outside in the back, which feels almost like someone’s backyard. We sat in the nice, cool air and read. The people were so nice and generous. It was simple, peaceful, and wonderful.
Going to the movies on a Friday night after a week of work is a glimmer.
Being able to take my son to a college workshop is a glimmer.
These are the wonderful things that happened in my week.
The pressure was there too. I’m not pretending it wasn’t.
But so were the blessings.
And maybe sometimes we have to intentionally adjust our eyesight so we can see them.
Reflection question:
What are your glimmers from this week?
Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read. → https://stan.store/aquafunkapus/p/friday-glimmers--find-the-good-in-your-week
