Tomorrow is Election Day, and as the weeks have gone by, I keep telling myself I just can't stand being inundated with campaign literature. I actually hold on to it and use it for collage projects.
And the commercials drive me crazy, which leads me to a conclusion: I hate elections. I hate voting.
But then I back up.
When I did my ballot last night, I didn't hate it. I sat down, read about the propositions and the candidates, and filled in the bubbles with blue ink.
That's what voting is.
So if I set aside the commercials and the speeches and the rallies, I realize it's the campaigns and the commercials I don't like. Voting is easy. I actually enjoy it. And it's a right other people fought for so I could have it. I can appreciate that.
Commercials, literature — I can do without.
But it's important to separate the two so I don't sour on the actual process of voting.
What have you soured on because of the noise around it?
Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
