Why is it here?

If you went into a sporting goods store to buy a baseball glove, and in the middle of the baseball gloves you found three jars of peanut butter, you would wonder, Why is the peanut butter here? Is it here because of a marketing scheme? Is it here because it was misplaced?

The peanut butter would seem out of place. Why is there peanut butter inside of a sporting goods store, next to baseball gloves? It's out of place. Things that are out of place can seem shocking, disheveling, and can discombobulate you.

Point in case, this morning I was walking my dog, and I saw a blue combination lock just sitting there on the sidewalk. Why is a blue combination lock sitting on the sidewalk? It's one of those things that just seems out of place.

Then, once you get all of that back together, you ask the question, Why is this here? And then you answer it. Well, somebody has the answer. Somebody has a legitimate reason why they put it there.

So, when you see something out of place today—and there are always things that seem out of place in our world on a daily basis—you may not know the reason why it was put there. Somebody has the reason why it was put there.

So maybe don't react with anger, disdain, or criticism. Instead, just ask the question, Why is it here?
