Sunday August 9th
Sunday, the beginning of a new week. Summer is at its height, but it is also beginning its descent into fall.
The stores are filling up with Halloween items. At PetSmart the costumes are out for the dogs — you can dress your dog as a minion, Chucky, a scarecrow, a pumpkin, Spiderman. In other stores you can find skeletons, witches, pumpkins, coffee cups with ghosts, and pumpkin spice: syrup, creamer, coffee pods, cold foam. All you need to experience the season.
The seasons are curated for us to produce the maximum in sensory experience, but they leave us craving more, so we go back, buy more cups, more creamer, more costumes for our pets.
But today is only August 9th. It is a sunny day outside. Halloween is still two months away. We haven't even had Labor Day. College football has not begun, the NFL is still in training camps, the baseball pennant races are heating up, and the summer movie season is in full swing. Soon students and educators will head back to school.
But today is still August 9th.
What season are you living in that hasn't arrived yet?
