Self Care Saturday

After a long, exhausting week, Saturday’s arrival feels as satisfying as a morning sunrise — and the simple gifts it brings are there if you slow down enough to find them.

A perfectly skull-shaped glass discovered on the sidewalk during a dog walk. Enough points accumulated for a free coffee. A Daiso store tucked right next to the theater where I dropped off my son. Small things. Unexpected things. But things that made me smile.

I’ve been intentional about limiting my screen time lately — stepping back from the constant feed of wars, death, and toxic politics. I pray for those suffering under the decisions of a few individuals whose motivations I question, while still acknowledging that they’ve been granted authority to lead. My hope — my genuine hope — is that they lean into wisdom and choose to serve rather than simply rule.

In the meantime, I’m choosing to look for the glimmers. The small, grace-filled moments that don’t make headlines but quietly remind you that life is still good, still worth showing up for.

Look for your glimmers. Pursue what enriches you. Hold onto what gives you hope.

What’s one small, unexpected moment from this week that you almost missed — and what would it have cost you not to notice it?
