Resurrection Day

It's the First of the Month

If you're a fan of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, you can fill in the rest of that sentence. But today is June 1st — and as we enter the midpoint of the year, it's a good time to sit down with yourself and take an honest look at where you are.

How are those goals doing? The ones you set back in January with all that hope and intention?

Here are five reflection questions to help you check in:

What is one goal I started this year that I want to continue?

What is one goal I abandoned that still matters to me?

What got in the way of my progress?

What grace do I need to give myself as I move forward?

If I started again tomorrow, what is the smallest first step I could take?

Sometimes the most powerful resolution isn't made on January 1st. It's made on an ordinary June morning when you decide to begin again.

Call it what you want — I'm calling it Resurrection Day. Your New Year's resolutions don't have to stay buried in the graveyard of shame. Pick them back up. Dust them off. Start.

That's all you need to do. One day at a time.

Which of these five reflection questions feels the hardest to answer honestly right now — and what does that tell you?
