Monday Rituals

Monday mornings aren’t universally happy. Unless they fall on a holiday—then Monday is appreciated. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. With a bit of effort, you can reset the tone. Start by listing what you’re thankful for. Leave a little earlier and move a little slower. When I get to work—before I open my email—I make coffee: I fill the pot, add the grounds to the filter, press the button, and listen as it brews, paying attention to each moment—observing, naming, experiencing. Then I open my email and check my messages. Now I’m ready to face the day.
