Mind Freedom
Hey there! Today, I just want to chat about something that’s been on my mind and, well, maybe yours too. Ever heard that line from Sly and the Family Stone’s song “Stand”? It goes something like: “You’re free in your mind if you choose to be.” And honestly, that lyric’s been ringing true for decades.
Formally speaking, the notion of mental freedom is a cornerstone of a lot of philosophical thought. Viktor Frankl, in “Man’s Search for Meaning,” pointed out that even in the direst circumstances, the ability to choose one’s thoughts remains intact. Nobody can take that from you.
Now, flipping to a more casual note, it’s kind of like saying: yeah, we’re bombarded by stuff—social media, news, the whole circus—but at the end of the day, we still get to decide how we let it affect us. Like, are we really going to let some politician we’ve never met live rent-free in our heads all day? Or do we take back that mental space and decide how we want to feel?
So that’s my two cents. We’ve got more power over our thoughts than we sometimes remember. And hey, if this little reminder helps you stand a bit taller in your own mental space today, then we’re on the right track
