Life is not an Instagram Feed

We know that life isn’t an Instagram reel, but sometimes I think I live my life like one.

I was looking forward to so many things on Saturday: going out to breakfast with my friend, going to a book swap, seeing a movie with the movie club, watching UFC, and watching the end of the World Cup.

But as I went through each event, I noticed something.

While I was at breakfast, I was already looking forward to the book swap. When I got to the book swap, I was looking forward to the movie. During the movie, I was already thinking about UFC.

Then I stopped myself.

I’m living this Saturday like an Instagram reel, just scrolling to the next event.

So I paused and told myself, Let me enjoy where I’m at.

Then it hit me.

Maybe all the scrolling I do sometimes is affecting the way I experience my day-to-day life. Maybe I’ve started treating real life the way I treat social media—always moving to the next thing before I’ve fully experienced the one I’m in.

Life is not an Instagram reel.

Slow down.

Enjoy where you’re at.
