Grace and Gratitude

Paul, in the book of Philippians, writes, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

The Greek word for “needs” here is chreia, and on this Thanksgiving, I can acknowledge this truth in my own life. I’m thankful for being able to travel, for vacation time, and for the holiday pay provided by my job. I also ran into a few people who needed help—and I’m thankful that I had the ability to offer it.

Gratitude and grace go hand in hand. God meets our needs, but He also often allows us to meet the needs of others. At the same time, we might also be the ones receiving help. Maybe that balance is what keeps the world running with compassion.

Question for you:

On this Thanksgiving Day where do you see your needs being met?
