Emmotional Support Coffee
Every Wednesday I share something from Coffee and Me, releasing January 5, 2027. Wednesday got away from me this week, so this one lands on Thursday. I wrote it on Sunday.
It has been a while since I've written in this coffee space, and in between posts, much coffee has been consumed.
School has started again, and I'm making my way through morning Keurigs on the drive to work, followed by a small pot during the day.
Yesterday, I had the desire to purchase a new coffee mug.
We decided to check out the new Five Below that opened in our neighborhood.
Five Below is a magical place.
You walk in and immediately want to buy everything, even though almost none of it is something you actually need. The colors somehow invoke joy, and the strange assortment of items has a way of finding its way into your basket.
One example?
A Halloween II Michael Myers figure.
Why it was specifically labeled Halloween II, I will never understand, but somehow it ended up in my basket.
What eluded me, however, was a new coffee mug.
They did have ramen bowls that I suppose you could repurpose into coffee mugs, along with some Halloween-themed to-go cups.
But it is still too early for Halloween.
I already have my Halloween mugs ready to go at work anyway.
My Jason mug.
My Killer Klowns from Outer Space mug.
They are patiently waiting for their season.
A new Dollar Tree had also just opened nearby, so we ventured over there.
Dollar Tree is usually a reliable source for another coffee mug.
And I found one.
A mug that read:
Emotional Support Coffee.
Did I need it?
Nope.
I already have more than twenty mugs sitting in my office at work.
But this one gives me something to look forward to on a Monday morning.
Today is Sunday.
Tomorrow, when I arrive at work, I can grind my beans, brew my coffee, pull out my new mug, and get a little emotional support for the week.
And it only cost me $1.50.
What did you buy that you didn't need and are still glad you have?
Here, I made this. My gift to you, for taking the time to read.
