Digital Detox
I have an inkling that in order to hear my own inner wisdom I need to quiet down what is going on around me. In order to do this, I am going to take the next few days to just read books and listen to music. I will be limiting my intake of television, social media, email, etc. At the end of this experiment I want to see what is produced. I am calling it my own digital detox, but I am not going to go cold turkey, but I am going to set up limits. I want to read from three books I have checked out of the library, work on my novel, and blog, then engage in outdoor activities.
And maybe—just maybe—I’ll hear that inner wisdom again. The voice that got buried under notifications, algorithms, and the tyranny of constant connection.
What do you think might emerge when you create space for your own inner wisdom?
The Experiment: Friday Night through Monday
Starting tonight. Ending Monday evening. Four days to see what happens when I deliberately create space for something other than constant input.
My Simple Rules:
∙ Read the three library books
∙ Work on my novel daily
∙ Blog once each day (this practice stays)
∙ Outdoor activities—walking, noticing, being present
∙ Music unlimited
∙ Email checked once daily only
∙ Social media: 15 minutes maximum, evening only
∙ TV: minimal, intentional only
What I’m Listening For:
I’ll check in here each day Friday , Saturday, Sunday, Monday—to share what’s emerging. No grand conclusions yet. Just curiosity about what rises to the surface when the noise quiets down.
Let’s see what happens
