Battles

Why do I fight losing battles?

What does it even mean to fight a losing battle? The battle is already lost. You can't go back and fight it.

Think about the fighters in the UFC who lost last night. They can't step back into the cage and fight the same fight again. The only options in front of them are to recover, learn, and prepare for the next one.

And here's the thing. The only place a losing battle still exists is in your own mind.

Our minds give us access to the impossible. The ability to go back and re-fight a lost battle. The job we no longer have. The relationship that failed. The opportunities we missed.

But the reality is the battle was lost. Now we're just ruminating. And rumination only gets us stuck in our own story.

Maybe the best battle to fight is the one you're in right now. It isn't lost. It's still here.

And maybe it isn't even a battle at all.

What battle are you still fighting in your mind that was actually decided long ago — and what would it free up if you finally let it go?
