AI and Clay

Saturday was a day of creating and spending time with my wife. In the morning, we went to the library for our weekly writing time, followed by our claydate.

For the claydate, I decided to try an experiment — I let AI help me with my art project.

I took a picture of my mug and asked AI to recommend a design and color palette. Once the recommendation came through, I had it generate a visual to work from, and then I painted the mug by hand.

It was fun. More than that, it was a reminder that AI doesn’t have to replace creativity — it can spark it. I had a wonderful time creating, talking, and reflecting with my wife. Sometimes the best breakthroughs happen when you’re willing to blend the unexpected.

When was the last time you used an unexpected tool or resource to enhance something creative in your life — and how did it change the experience?
