Accumulate Wins

Today is February 1st, the start of a new month. My hope and desire is that you are still working on the goals you set at the beginning of the year. If you are, celebrate your accomplishments!

I set out to write and post to my blog 31 times in the month of January, and I posted number 31 yesterday.

Celebrating the completion of a goal is something I started during my doctorate program. When I would hit a certain benchmark, I would celebrate by buying a graphic t-shirt or something coffee related.

Yesterday I purchased a graphic t-shirt to celebrate.

If you gave up on a goal you set in January, simply do this: start again! It is that easy. You set the goal, you had the energy and motivation to establish it, and you didn’t go into it with the intent to abandon it.

Next week is the Super Bowl. The Patriots and the Seahawks both lost three games this year, but after those defeats they didn’t abandon the season. They came back the next week and kept accumulating wins, and that is what goal progress is — accumulating wins. So if you stopped, start again. Accumulate wins, and come back at the end of the month to celebrate. So what are you going to do this month, and how will you celebrate your victories?
